Internship Showcase and Networking Mixer
Each fall returning students who interned and conducted summer research share their experiences and provide advice to first year students. This annual event is designed to introduce incoming students to the range of possibilities for completing the required summer experience, YSE 006. Participants will walk away with a list of peers to reach out to in coming weeks and months for advice and information on the process of securing a summer experience in line with their career goals.
U.S. Presidential Management Fellowship Info Session
Annual information session on the PMF, a leadership development program that provides opportunities for graduate (master's or doctoral-level degree) students to work with and impact public policy, to serve one's country, and to receive competitive pay, benefits, and career advancement.
Fulbright Fellowship Information Session
The Institute of International Education (IIE) annually awards approximately 1,000 grants supporting graduate study and research in over 140 countries. Yale Fulbright coordinator Dean Robert Harper-Mangels provides information about the fellowship and Yale-specific deadlines and requirements.
Writing the Personal Statement
Resume Writing
Write, update or re-write your resume. Topics include: creating a master resume, targeting your resume to specific fields or positions, streamlining your format, how to be detailed yet concise, quantifying your experience and increasing readability.
Cover Letter Writing
Learn how to write cover letters that get you interviews. Topics include: deconstructing the job description, selling your unique qualifications, researching the organization, and formatting basics.
Applying for a Ph.D. Roundtable
This annual session features faculty and current Ph.D. candidates from YSE. Topics include:
- Strategies for deciding whether to pursue a PhD or not
- Applying for an interdisciplinary PhD
- Selecting programs
- Connecting with potential advisors
- Applying--at F&ES and more broadly to other programs
How To Work A Career Fair
CPD introduces students to the unique protocol of the career fair to prepare them for networking and industry research at these annual events.
