Jesse Callahan Bryant is a Doctoral Student studying with Dr. Justin Farrell at the Yale School of the Environment whose interests lie at the intersection of media, governance, and the environment. Here at Yale, he works between the School of the Environment, the Center for Cultural Sociology, and the Digital Humanities Lab.
What — white nationalism, ecofascism, online influencers, environmental extremism, environmental photography and video, and recreation.
How — a combination of computational machine and deep learning techniques and actually talking to real people in real life in a systematic way. These techniques derive verifiable epistemological authority through a diversified set of science and humanities methods.
He is also a pragmatist, in the sense of good knowledge coming from real lived experience. With this in mind, he keeps employment while completing his Ph.D. in the form of political campaign and policy, and teaching in various forms.
